Today marks the start of our busy summer camp season. We've got girls dreaming their careers, learning to lead and exploring the many fields of science. These camps are offered free of charge to girls in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It's our hope to reach out to these underserved teens and inspire them - inspire them to study new fields, to try new things and to learn about the women that have paved the way.
Adventures in Science begins this week - a week that's sure to be filled with projects, experiments and discovery. Studies show that neither gender is naturally inclined towards STEM (science, technology, engineering and math fields), but context (i.e. female professors, encouragement, classroom environments) seriously impacts girls' experiences in these fields.
We bring girls into The Women's Museum, where they are surrounded by the words, wisdom and accomplishments of women. They explore our exhibits and then are taught that girls can do anything.
Want to learn more? We'll have photos and video posted throughout the summer. Have a summer camp story to share? Leave it in the comments!
